Each one of us wants personal success and to learn the keys to success. Everyone wants to have a happy, healthy life, do meaningful work, enjoy a career, and achieve financial independence. Everyone wants to make a difference in the world, to be significant, to have a positive impact on those around him or her. Everyone wants to do something wonderful with his or her life.
In this Skillopedia session I will make you understand that the keys to success are a single piece of information, a single idea at the right time, that can change your life in the right situation. Hi everybody welcome back to Skillopedia and you are with me, Meera. Well guys today let’s talk about, let’s just reflect on some of days that we faced, when we felt like a loser, we felt that we were good for nothing, that we couldn’t do anything and we are stuck, right? We’ve had these days, we’ve had really bad days in our lives. Well these are the days which tell us that, Hey, you need some time off for yourself, and reflect upon these things and understand what you need to improve, change or improve within yourself that makes you cut off from this tag of just being a loser and become the hero or a superwoman that you’ve always wanted to be. Today we are going to learn some amazing tips on how these self-improvement tips and what are these self-improvement tips that you can use in order to become a hero, from a zero. Alright guys, let’s get started. I would like to tell you that first thing you need to do is, “change your perspective”. That means, change the way you think, at least for a day, try this out. So what you can do is, today when you just go out, throughout the day, okay, stop yourself from thinking negative or being criticizing, being judgmental about someone who’s just crossed your path. Stop thinking things like, “um, she’s always been this way” or “he’s always been this mean”, just stop yourself from any negative emotion that causes you, that gives you anxiety or sort of an uneasiness that is just triggered within you whenever you start thinking negative. What will you do? You will focus on your thoughts, you will focus on the way you are thinking, when you will see yourself thinking negative, stop yourself. You focus on your emotions. Whenever you start feeling negative, you stop yourself. And you see yourself or find yourself getting into a negative actions, right, you will again stop yourself. Take a breather here, take a moment for yourself and tell yourself that this is not who I am. That is how you will shift your perspective, your thinking from negative to positive. And what happens when you do that? When you reflect on such minute and minimum things in your life, you find yourself getting into a positive zone and a positive environment for yourself. When you start thinking positively, things around you, people around you, whatever they are doing, you find yourself at peace and within positive people it has happened to so many around with me including me and that’s why I want you to try this for yourself. Shift your perspective at least for the day. Well now I’m gonna talk about the things that we’ve been doing as routine, day in and day out we find ourselves waking up at 9 O’clock in the morning make ourselves boiled eggs, eating them, going to work at sharp 10 O’clock and doing things which have been a part of our lives. After all we all are creatures of habit. We like to do things which make our lives easier, but at the same time it just gets us lazy at time, we need to “Spice things up for ourselves”. You need to change your habits for that. Well don’t get me wrong, I’m not talking about stopping just, I’m not going to say that don’t brush from tomorrow morning, that’s required but, maybe, just maybe try to brush without a mirror or the opposite hand that you’ve been brushing with… I’m just giving you something different so start thinking when I say, try and change your habits. What happens when you change your habits? It gets you out of your comfort zone. It makes you think that, okay, this is something different although it’s the same thing. Now for example, as family we used to catch up every Saturday and catch up for a lunch or dinner or something. But just because I got into this self-improvement thing myself, I said that, let’s just make this family night, a Monday night and see how we feel about it. And you wouldn’t believe it people actually liked the whole change of habit and the change of routine, just because we met on a Monday instead of a Saturday. What happens is that when you change, your body sort of adopts to something that you’ve been doing for so long, suddenly when you give yourself a different thing to do, in a different way, you get energize, your mind suddenly thinks that, this is something different and that is what is important for us sometimes. We need to change our habits in order to feel comfortable in the most uncomfortable situations as well. Alright tell me one thing, do you have a list of things, that you wanted to do since a long time but you have been skipping it for some or the other good reason, maybe for work, for something personal or money or because it’s just too far, you can’t just go there and learn something. Well I’ll tell you what, in order to see yourself in a different situation, if you want to improve something within yourself, you need to just go to your list again, find out something that you’ve been wanting to learn for the longest and try and learn it. Learning a new skill, breathes confidence in ourselves, that’s right. When we learn something new, we get really excited, we get eager to learn more and more. This is how the cycle goes, okay? You “learn something new”, the “excitement” of learning something new that comes with, you know the atmosphere, the people who you are going to learn it with, then you suddenly find yourself “increase in self-confidence” you know, there’s this increase in self-confidence and then the cycle goes back to “getting motivated to learn more”. Again you end up learning a new skill and that’s the cycle when it comes to learning a new skill. Yes, so what have you done? You’ve tried to do something that you’ve always wanted to do, just make a short list or if you have, just don’t be fearful of how difficult it’s going to be, how am I gonna do it? I’m not in that zone anymore, these skills will suddenly enhance your self-confidence and that the feeling of knowing more things than you’ve known before, has a different meaning to it. It gives that confidence that you have never known before and that’s why for self-improvement, try to learn a new skill for yourself. Well guys, all of us have really, really tough times that we have been facing, right? We fail, we fall, we struggle… we struggle really hard. Life becomes extremely impossible and difficult some times. But you have to keep pushing through. This builds a lot of character, you know when you push through a hard time or hard times, the next time you face a similar situation, you encounter something same, it will be much easier for you to get through it. Why, why would you do that? Because you will prove to yourself that, yes, you have done this before and when some big mountain like this stands in front of you again, you can cross that again. That belief is huge. It just makes your character and yourself, so much more strong and so much more confident. Let me tell you a quick story, just the other day, I happened to meet this friend of mine who used to be really lazy, who used to think so negative about herself and about her life, who used to always be stuck to her chair or to her bed day in and day out. She knew that she had to get out of it and I remember her telling me three months before that I need to get out of this, this place I’m in. And now when I met her in the morning today, I was her in this great gym outfit, I asked her, where is she coming from? She said, I’m just coming from yoga and gym both. I asked, her how is she feeling now? Because she was feeling so negative. She said that, two things have changed in my life and that has made me a completely new person and that is, she started “eating better” and she started “exercising”. She told me and she is one of those examples that is the reason why I think eating better and exercise is should be a part of your self-improvement kit. Yes, make it a point that you exercise for a few times a week, even if it means to start with just a walk. My idea for self-improvement always begins with, getting out there in the morning, waking up at 5:30, going for maybe a walk or for yoga session and try to eat healthy at least once a week, I think we can manage once a week.
