We will have a look at the first verse to begin with
“It’s amazing how you can speak right to my heart.”
In this line the singer talks about how his ladylove can understand him and his feelings completely.
“Without saying a word, you can light up the dark.”
Here he says, how when a person feels very low and depressed, there’s always a special person in their life who can make them feel better just with their presence, without even saying a word.
“try as I may, I could never explain what I hear when you don’t say a thing.”
He says that when his lady love is with him, even when she is not saying anything, he can feel the love, affection support and warmth that she has for him.
Let’s look at the lines of the chorus

These lines convey the message that when he sees his love smiling at him, he can see how much she needs him and feels for him. The singer can look in to his lady love’s eyes and see how much she loves and cares for him.

So here he is not saying that his girlfriend will pick him up if he falls down literally. He means to say that whenever he is in a dark phase of his life or, whenever he feels low, his partner will always come to his rescue and help him come out of such thoughts and situations.

Here he says that he can’t explain in words the bond that he shares with his girlfriend and it is very special and unique.
