A couple of years ago there was a lady who said you know it’s the little things that I will miss. Watching our favourite TV show, you know all curled up on the couch together or taking a stroll on the beach, just spending time together doing nothing. Well, this old woman once said that at her husband’s funeral and you know the strength, the pride and the incredible wisdom with the way she said all of this, well those words have stuck with me ever since. It’s very easy to get distracted by a million of different things in our busy world but how often do we take few moments to focus on the small and simple parts of our lives. Well, how much time do we actually take to enjoy the little things around us, the little things in our life? Well if I’m being honest with myself I must admit that I rarely take time to enjoy the little things in life because I’m also too busy with my work. I’m just worrying too much about what happened in the past or probably what am I gonna do in my future, planning my day, meeting people oh my god the life seems to be so complex. So you know because of these things you hardly get any time to enjoy the small pleasures of life and I know that’s really sad. It’s a bad habit and I need to change that but up until this point, I haven’t really learned what to do about it. So if you are also like me you just struggle to sit down back and you know enjoy the simple things in life then yes this session is for you. Well, I am Niharika and you’re watching Skillopedia the place to learn skills for the real world. In today’s session, we are gonna help you to bring peace to your aching soul which actually means that I’m gonna help you to just enjoy these small pleasures in life.
What’s the first thing that you can do? Greet each day with a walk and a smile. Yes, the morning hours are very, very busy and stressful but they are also considered as the most peaceful ones. Now usually mornings lean to the hectic side isn’t it but it’s not that people don’t want to begin their day on a peaceful note but it’s always you know the stress of getting kids to school, getting to work, cooking breakfast, cooking lunch, fitting time for breakfast and exercise. Crazy, mornings are crazy. Now even though mornings can be so stressful try to greet each day with a short walk and a smile. Now there is nothing that will help you appreciate your blessings and the surroundings. Well, just take a quick walk, a quick stroll and see the difference. Now if you combine a short walk with a smile on your face, you will enjoy the little things in life for years to come. So do that without fail.
Well here’s another thing that you can do to enjoy the little pleasures. Celebrate the little things, you know give yourself permission to do that but how do you do it? Well, here’s how you can celebrate your small wins in life. Celebrate good weather, I mean look at this, this is just the perfect weather and I’m loving it. Take a friend out and buy her a coffee or just go for a walk with your friend. If your friend has mastered a new skill, oh come on go ahead appreciate that you know you need to celebrate their achievement. Celebrate getting through a daunting task with doing something you enjoy. You know buy a small gift for yourself, go for a spa, enjoy a small evening walk, oh my god there are so many things that you can do to make yourself happy, to celebrate those little things. I mean it’s not necessary that something big should happen and that is the only time when you will celebrate, you know people generally celebrate their birthdays, their anniversaries but why not celebrate every single day right?
Well, this one is the one that I totally love and believe in express gratitude. Now before you go to sleep each night expressing gratitude loud brings many benefits. It allows you to become conscious of the wonderful blessings you enjoyed in your day or you have enjoyed in your life. It helps you to maintain a positive attitude and it also helps you to notice the little things that others might not even be aware of. So time for you to show gratitude, it’s up to you how you choose to express your gratitude. Some do it loud; some do it by writing down in a journal. Some people mention it to their friends. So you know there are different ways of being grateful or you can also tell them personally. You can choose whatever method you are comfortable with but do it.
Well, it’s time for you to enjoy with friends and family. Yes you know there are times when we just take our friends and family for granted. Sometimes the stressed day gets in our way and we just don’t care about the people around us and we just walk into our room, shut the door and go to bed but what’s the point? You know why not spend that quality time with your people with the people that you love? What are you gonna gain out of this by just shutting your doors? Well, you’re gonna be more stressed and definitely not gonna have a good morning the next day. So enjoying these simple pleasures of life you don’t need any bells and whistles to enjoy with people. If you truly want to enjoy the simple things in life but spending time with your friends and family really helps and I believe that it is essential to do that.
So friends don’t wait for anyone or you know get too busy in your lives. Enjoy these little things in life because you never know what’s in store for you.
